Through a variety of styles your child will explore melodies, beats and rhythms. This program is geared towards children ages 6 months through 5 years and their parent/caregiver. Included are stories, songs, rhymes, and one-on-one parent/child playtime with brain-based learning toys and books. The program is designed to teach parents about the importance of a child's early experiences to the wiring of his or her brain in a fun, informal learning setting where play is emphasized. Children birth to 8 months old plus a parent/caregiver are welcome. Admission into the program is free with paid Museum admission. Space is limited.

Baby Yoga
Baby Yoga 05/15/2016
Through gentle yoga stretches, touch, music, and singing, caretakers and babies are encouraged to bond with one another to support the emotional well being of baby, as well as, stimulate the nervous system through sensory activities that support touch, and movement. Both baby and parent will participate in repetitive soothing motions of relaxation techniques, constructive play, and experience some yoga poses and practice breathing to embrace and celebrate the developmental milestones in the first year of the baby’s life. Class is designed for children ages 5 months through 15 months and is taught by Anna Blocher-Rubin. Admission into the program is free with paid Museum admission. Space is limited.

One of Southwest Human Development’s literacy experts will address the value of maintaining one’s native language as it relates to literacy and language development for children. Parents will also learn the importance of singing and dancing with their children to help build their child’s vocabulary. Parents will learn the value of rhyming and how doing this with your children will promote language growth and confidence. This workshop is designed for children ages birth to five plus a parent/caregiver and includes story time, an art activity, singing and dancing. Get Ready to Read! Early Literacy Screenings for 3-5 year olds 05/21/2016

Is your child ready for Kindergarten? Get Ready to Read! is an early literacy program designed to help parents ensure that young children are equipped with the fundamental skills necessary for learning to read. The goal of Get Ready to Read! is to screen children between the ages of 3 years, 6 months - 5 years, 11 months, for pre-reading skills before they enter kindergarten and provide skill-strengthening activities to ensure their reading success. Each screening takes about 10 minutes and the kids walk away with pre-reading exercises as well as a free book. June 6th-10th and July 4th-8th. Come and learn the art of recycling! At the Children's Museum of Phoenix, we celebrate the idea that art can be made from just about anything. Are you familiar with our dazzling CD wall? Have you seen our sculpture made entirely from silverware? At our Green Ambassadors Camp, campers will engage their imaginations as they create art from a number of recycled products. Campers will make recycled paper, decorate flower pots, experiment with bottle cap art, and more! Campers will also gain environmental awareness through a number of earth-friendly activities including the examination of their individual carbon footprints. Green Ambassadors includes ample time for camp participants to play within all three floors of our imaginative exhibits. Other activities include: story time, talent show, and awards ceremony.

June 13th-17th and July 11th-15th. Welcome to the CMoP Time Travelers agency. Campers will grab a ticket and embark upon a trip filled with interesting stops throughout history. Campers will exhibit teamwork, innovation, and resourceful problem-solving as they create self-designed time machines. Campers will visit the dinosaurs, explore ancient Egypt, and make a pit stop in the Wild West; they will also have the opportunity to examine various inventions and devise the innovative ideas that will power the future. Time Travelers Camp also includes ample time for camp participants to play within all three floors of our imaginative exhibits. Other activities include: story time, talent show, and awards ceremony.

Kindergarten Bootcamp gives parents tools, information, and activities to help prepare their child for school success in a fun, educational, and interactive setting. Bootcamp consists of six, 1-hour sessions for children who are preparing to enter kindergarten, or who have recently entered kindergarten. Under the guidance of an early literacy specialist, parents and caregivers work on foundational skills which have been demonstrated to be the most important for both a successful kindergarten and school experience.

June 20th-24th and July 18th-22nd. Calling all authors! Join us as we journey into a world of imagination, creativity, magic, and possibilities. Campers will explore the museum through fairy tales, have the opportunity to create their own stories and dioramas and also utilize critical thinking and scientific reasoning skills, as well as, problem solving and teamwork to help their fairytale friends solve a number of dilemmas. Create a parachute to help Jack escape the giant, construct a raft for the Billy Goats, and more! Little Authors also includes ample time for camp participants to play within all three floors of our imaginative exhibits. Other activities include: story time, talent show, and awards ceremony.
 
Summertime Sleuths
Summertime Sleuths 06/27/2016 To 07/25/2016
June 27th-July 1st and July 25th-29th. Who did it? Campers will spend a week with the CMoP Detective Unit learning the science of investigation. Campers will study fingerprints, analyze handwriting, learn the science of chromatography, test observation skills, exercise deductive reasoning, examine mysterious powders and more! Our camp teams will practice teamwork and cooperation as they work together to gather evidence and solve mysteries right here at the Museum! Summertime Sleuths also includes ample time for camp participants to play within all three floors of our imaginative exhibits. Other activities include: story time, talent show, and awards ceremony.
